i have grown increasingly fond of Shane Claiborne these last few months as what i have come to call my Third Conversion has started to take some flesh and blood. I often try hard to stay away from what i consider "pop-christian" authors and their influence for numerous reasons, attempting to learn more from those who have proven themselves and their theology from years (if not centuries) of living the cross. However after reading his books, listening to interviews, and looking at his community in Philly, I dare say that Mr. Claiborne is setting himself up to be learned from and quoted for many years to come. Not because anything he is saying is new, its been lived out for the last 2,000 yrs. But hes seems to have spearheaded bringing this to the common person who otherwise wouldn't pick up or ever hear of Yoder and the like.
I recently came across this interview/debate between him, Greg Boyd, and Chuck Colson. What follows is an amazing debate between the worldview and mindset the generation or two before us have bought into (Chuck Colson seems to voice some of these in the interview),and those caught up in this "awakening that is so old it looks new". Great introduction to these internal issues and differences between these brothers, and this revolution.
